Getting your business or organisation found on Google is key to successfully communicating your message.
Google provides an array of free tools, under the umbrella of "Google My Business" which can help you to be found. Sadly, whilst Google provide these tools free of charge, there are some exploiting this and charging businesses for what is essentially a range of free tools and services.
And I have heard of instances where things become nasty with threats of court action to recover monies the scammers allege the business owes.
Beware of the phone call advising the caller works for Google, represents Google or is a contractor for Google. Beware of the caller offering yearly renewals for Google business listings, free consultations, deletion of your page or increasing your business map rankings.
Unless you have recently contacted Google regarding your business listing it is unlikely, but not impossible that they will contact you. If they do, they will not ask for money and caller ID will show Google Inc. Verify their legitimacy, ask them to email, they will have your email address if they are genuinely calling from Google.
